Practice your math skills with Math Samurai (Four stars)

Math Samurai, a math app for kids developed by Edin, helps children practice their problem-solving skills.

Math Samurai gives simple instructions – solve the mathematical equations by correctly guessing the math symbols or operators. The user does this by finger-slicing the screen similar to the movements of a samurai.

Although the game gives no time limits, kids only get four swords. Once they use up all the swords, the game ends. Kids get a point for every correct answer. When they get 50 points, they progress to the next round.

But if kids make a wrong guess, then the game deducts points from the score and takes away some swords.

A useful app for kids, Math Samurai can serve as a review for kids before math tests. If the kids like to use flash cards, Math Samurai offers a great alternative. At US$0.99, this simple to understand and fun to use app is definitely a good investment.

“Math Samurai combines Math practice with some fast finger maneuvering. The game works with the four basic operations – addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Each operation has a specific gesture on the screen, a samurai slice. Your job is to solve a Math problem by choosing the correct slice (operation) needed for that problem. Once you’ve figured it out you’ve got to do that gesture on the screen. Math Samurai has ten levels and you can follow this link to see a You Tube video showing the app in action.”

**Digitron** – appadvice .com:

A puzzle game that will put your basic math skills to the test. Blocks with different numbers and operators fall from the top of the screen. You must guide the blocks left or right to align five and build equations. You’re able to change the operators by tapping on them at any time. Equations can be created in horizontal, vertical, and diagonal rows. Once you run out of space on the board, you still have 30 seconds to create an equation. Fail to do so and the game is over.

Are you a math nerd? Or maybe you’re just someone who enjoys math, but also wants to improve their skills? Either way, Digitron might be an app for you to check out.

Digitron is a universal app that takes mathematics and turns it into something fun (finally!). It provides a drop down box in which various numbers and mathematical formula signs fall down, and you have to place them in order to create and solve the proper equation. Similar to tetris, but oh so much more mathematically challenging. No matter your abilities, you should find this game to be one that entertains and instructs, which is something we could use more of in this life.

**Eat Smart** – theapplegoogle .com:

Is that healthy or unhealthy? This is a tough discussion to make but don’t worry, Eat Smart for iOS by Edin delivers an enjoyable and interesting gameplay and at the same time becomes educational and advising on the food that you are looking at.

The gameplay is very simple and all about food. In general, the objective is to stay alive and healthy by jumping from one platform to another. Tilting your device to either left or right moves the character to left or right. You will encounter food on the way which by eating will add up or deduct points. Eat healthy food like fruit and veggies will add points and eat unhealthy food like cheeseburger or cake will deduct points. Furthermore, unhealthy food makes you sick and change color from green to red and well red means game over. Also you can eliminate unhealthy food by dropping crates over them.

Look at the gameplay; it is fast paced, simple and educational. The colors are nicely picked but the graphics could have been much better.

Overall, Eat Smart is an attractive and educational game. It is available on the App Store for both iPhone and iPad.
